Review submitted by P Cousins from Hinckley, Leicestershire who travelled in February 2008.
What was the most memorable part of your holiday?
Visiting Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The noise from the birds and animals was just incredible and we saw some monkeys which was very exciting. Apparently there are leopards too but we didn’t see them!
What birds and other wildlife did you see?
We went in February which is one of the best times to see migrating birds. We saw eagles, plovers, kites, quails, woodpeckers and ducks and loads of brightly-coloured parrots and parakeets in the rainforest,
What advice would you give to other people thinking about booking this holiday?
The climate really varies a lot from place to place so take a range of clothes. The mountains can get quite chilly so take a jumper or fleece. You’ll need walking boots in the forest and if you go to any temples you will need to cover your shoulders.
How would you rate your holiday overall?
An absolute fantastic experience. Our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable. We saw more birds and wildlife than we could have ever dreamed of and saw many more interesting things.
Would you recommend this as a bird watching holiday?
Definitely. We recorded 137 species and saw many more that I could not identify. Seeing parrots in their natural habitat rather than in a cage was just marvellous.
