John James Audubon Celebrated With Google Doodle
Tuesday, 26 April 2011
John James Audubon, the naturalist and artist who catalogued the birds of America and influenced Charles Darwin, has been celebrated with a Google doodle.

Google featured images from the ornithologist’s 19th Century prints to mark what would have been his 226th birthday. The Google logo was made up of birds of prey, song birds and an owl.

Jean-Jacques Audubon was the son of a French sugar plantation owner from Haiti who emigrated to America at the turn of the 19th century and set himself the challenge of painting North American bird species in more detail than ever before.

You can see the Google Doole here.
