Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is a group of six islets in the Kaveri River 18 km from Mysore and home to many exotic birds. This two day tour would be a perfect addition to your holiday in India.
The isolated islets and abundance of insects during the monsoon season at Ranganathittu make it a favourite gathering place for birds. In 1940, one of India's noted ornithologists, Dr Salim Ali-who established it as a bird sanctuary.
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary is now a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers and bird watchers. Species you can spot include cormorants, egret, heron, partridges, river tern and snake birds. You will also see crocodiles basking in the sun alongside the birds.
On the first day of your tour you will travel to Mysore in an air-conditioned vehicle to Hotel Sandesh The Prince. The hotel has a multi-cuisine restaurant as well as Ayurveda massage parlours and steam baths.
In the evening you will visit the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary before returning to the hotel.
After breakfast on the second day you will visit the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary again and return to Bangalore in the evening.
